Congratulations to Kimberly Ballard, one of our Graduate Students, for being
awarded a contract with Ballet West II Company.

Kimberly began her dance education in southern California at the Looking Glass Studio of Performing Arts and The School of International Ballet, where she was a member of the Redlands Festival Ballet.  She has attended summer programs with The Harid Conservatory, Boston Ballet, and Ballet West. While participating in the Youth America Grand Prix competition she placed in the top twelve, top twenty-four, and has competed in the final competition in New York City.

Kimberly received her BFA in Ballet with emphases in Performance, Teaching, and Character Dance from the University of Utah in December of 2009. She has been a member of Utah Ballet for three years, performing in soloist and corps de ballet roles for classical and contemporary works, including the role of Aurora in The Grand Pas de Deux from The Sleeping Beauty. She has also been a member of the Character Dance Ensemble for three years. During her time at the U, Kimberly has traveled to Spain to study Basque dance, Canada to perform in the Vaganova Dance Society's 20th anniversary gala of Don Quixote, and Germany for a weeklong foreign exchange with the Berlin State Ballet School. Kimberly has also served as ballet mistress for Utah ballet and is a frequent choreographer, and performer, for the University's student choreographed production, Ballet Showcase. Kimberly has recently performed with Aspen Santa Fe Ballet in their production of The Nutcracker and is currently a trainee with Ballet West.
